Having just released 36 brand new instrumental tracks last month with Ghosts I-IV, Trent Reznor not ready to simply chillax and trade hairstyle secrets with newly returned Nails guitarist Robin Finck while waiting for the Nine Inch Nails tour to start this summer. Instead, The Rez released yet ANOTHER new song last night (with words!). The ultra-catchy track is called “Discipline” and is available for free download here.



On his blog at www.nin.com, The Rez encourages us all to take our shirts off, dance to it, and remix it. HELLS YES. (No word on whether or not you’ll have to remix it while topless.)

And one more thing: Embedded in the free MP3 is a note from The Rez, telling us to visit his site on May 5. Apparently he has even more tricks up his black and depressed sleeve. SWEET.

This has been circulating for a while, so you may have already seen this, but we Remix editors want to profess our love to Erykah Badu more than ever now that we’ve seen this. Erykah Badu should sing AND do the skits on Saturday Night Live, just like Snoop Dogg a while back.

Hey, do you like free stuff? Better yet, do you like free stuff that’s frigging awesome? Yeah? Well, hold onto your panties because label Ghostly International and programmers Adult Swim have teamed up to present the music and art gem Ghostly Swim. The album contains totally free, totally new and totally high-quality tracks (19 in all) from the likes of Dabrye, FLYamSAM, Matthew Dear, Tycho, Milosh and School of Seven Bells, among others. Also? Ghostly’s mascots, BoyCatBird make their animated debut in a video by Daniel Garcia/Superfi called “City Suckers.”

Excuse the hyperbole (finally, I get to use that word in a sentence), but in addition to the 8 katrillion videos we have from Remix Hotel (http://www.remixmag.com/video/rh_miami/2008), Red Bull on the Move just launched yet more Miami memories. Red Bull had its own cabana to the left of the Remix Hotel media lab and the Grammy/NARAS VIP room. That meant between interviews, yours truly got drink free Red Bull in one room and tequila in the other. It was pretty decent consolation for the fact that I was chained to a chair in front of a video camera most of the time. But really, I’m not complaining. I get paid to do this.

In addition to capturing video action from the Om Records party, King Street Anniversary party, Canada Loves Miami party (really?) and Co-Op party, Red Bull on the Move also got some one-on-one interviews at Remix Hotel that we somehow missed, including Saeed Younan, George Morel, Kevin Kevin, Todd Terry, Roland Clark, S.O.S., Nic Fanciulli, deadmau5 and Carl Cox. Damn, where was I? Oh yeah, next door interviewing all the other peeps. Keep checking their site as they roll out the video, audio and photos. Up now are interviews with Fred Everything and Johnny Fiasco.

Yeah, so we hitched a ride on the bandwagon a little late, but hey, whatever. This song is frickin’ awesome, and we just can’t help ourselves in spreading the love. Just sayin’.

Apple’s iTunes is sponsoring a Radiohead remix contest for the band’s song “Nude,” the third track off the latest album, In Rainbows.

Go to the contest page in the iTunes Music Store and purchase one or all of the five stem tracks–bass, drum, guitar, string FX and vocal–to participate. Buy all five and you’ll also receive a link to download a GarageBand project file with all the parts and loops arranged within, although you don’t have to use GarageBand or any Apple product to participate.

Upload your remix to http://radioheadremix.com by April 8, and visitor will vote for their favorite remixes until May 1. There were already 140 remixes submitted in less than a day, so competition is fierce!
