On November 6th, 2007 Kiite Records released for worldwide distribution Eccotonic‘s debut CD “Flow Motion”. This is a downtempo/lounge/electronica studio project by noted film composer and recording artist Cato. Based in Los Angeles, California and influenced by LA’s incredible variety of human culture, Cato still retains elements of artistic sensibility from his Scandinavian background, which includes numerous solo electronica/ambient concerts, DJ-gigs and scoring cutting edge, award-winning television shows. Mixing an eclectic palette of organic and electronic sounds, the music of Eccotonic represents the culmination of a body of work by Cato and his collaborators that spreads over the past several years. It is also a natural extension of his film scoring work, including the track “Cache” that incorporates musical elements from the award-winning film of the same name. Says Cato, “Coming from the world of composing to picture I am used to also thinking ‘visually’ when it comes to sound and music. Even when I compose without picture, like with Eccotonic, I often think that I am ‘painting a soundscape’ the same way a painter is ‘painting a landscape’. I equal the importance of creating the soundscape to that of composing the melodies and chords and don’t consider any element of my musical expression to be more important than another.”.
Cato’s collaborations with other musicians, most notably singer/songwriter Jenny Campmany, are usually heavily edited, warped, distorted and otherwise treated through Cato‘s constantly evolving sonic signatures. These have already made Cato a sought-after creator of music for visual media, having resulted in many scores for award-winning feature films, documentaries, commercials and video games, including the opening music for Smokin‘ Aces (Universal, 2007), the score for Semper Fi: One Marine‘s Journey (Showtime, 2007) and the score for the Kevin Spacey production Mini‘s First Time (HBO, 2006). At the same time, having already been selected for CD-compilations (Pacha Ibiza‘s Roof Terrace Vibe Vol. III), licensed to network television (CBS/Paramount‘s Girlfriends on UPN) and played on famed, Santa Monica, California-based radio station KCRW by Chris Douridas, the music of Eccotonic is being discovered by more and more listeners around the planet. Dutch DJ/Producer ARMIN VAN BUUREN received the yearly award for the #1 most popular global DJ in 2007 from the well known British magazine DJ MAG. In the influential yearly top 100, a record-breaking 345,000 votes were cast by dance music fans from more than 220 countries.
Armin has been listed in the DJ Mag Top 100 since 2001. In 2002 he entered the top at the 5th position, after which he climbed even further to the 3rd place. After holding this position for 3 years in a row he climbed up to the 2nd place last year. This year he was able to takeover the No.1 DJ crown from Paul van Dyk and past three year consecutive winner Tìësto.
Now Armin is in the midst of a major US tour for his upcoming mix compilation <
em>Universal Religion 2008: Live from Armada at Ibiza releasing on Ultra Records December 4th. The album was recorded live on August 21 in summer 2007, during the Armada night at legendary Amnesia nightclub. On the live element Armin says, “It adds to the feeling, the experience, so you can feel like you‘re there, having a great time with your friends.” The unplanned set list became the perfect CD release: a spontaneous selection of records that embodies the timeless Balearic sound of Ibiza against the buzz of a crowd enjoying a world-renowned club and their favorite DJ. “I had the first two tracks lined up, and the rest I just chose as I played, gauged on the reaction from the dancefloor,” says Armin. “Tracks like Big Sky, Sunlounger and Daydream are pure Balearic gems. It‘s scary to record something live but once the music starts flowing you lose yourself to it”.
On top of his already vigorous schedule with another Ultra release,
A State of Trance 2007
, earlier this year, Armin continues to host his hugely popular international radio show “A State of Trance” which is broadcast across 40 FM stations in 20 countries and heard by 2.5 million people every week. . For the third time, the show received an award for Best Global Dance Radio Show during Winter Music Conference in Miami.
Armin has been working in the studio for his upcoming artist album which is scheduled for release in early 2008. To support this new album, Armin will tour the globe with a new show around the “Armin Only” concept, in which he plays long sets, supported by several live acts and performances. The success of the two previous editions in the Netherlands, laid the foundation for a worldwide tour in 2008. The kick-off is planned on the April 19th, 2008 in De Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, the Netherlands, which marks the start of the global tour.
Universal Religion 2008 compilation mixed by Armin van Buuren is out on Ultra Records - December 4th, 2007.

Rugged grills designed to protect reference monitor woofer and tweeters while maintaining excellent sonic performance
Hollywood, Fla. - (November 6, 2007) - KRK Systems is proud to announce the release of rugged protection grills for VXT4 and VXT6 reference monitors. The attractive, yet rugged metal grills are designed to protect KRK Systems‘ VXT Series monitor woofers and tweeters while preserving the monitors world-class sonic performance. This is achieved through design elements like the use of rubber gaskets and mounting spacers which eliminate vibration transfers. VXT protection grills are another example of how KRK Systems provides the best solutions in audio monitoring.
KRK Systems‘ rugged protection grills will enable KRK users to utilize their monitors in a variety of different monitoring applications with the confidence to know their monitors are protected. “We listened to the feedback of our customers in the mobile and broadcast production industries; they loved the sonic performance of the VXTs, but they were concerned that the rigors of their professions would damage the sensitive components of the monitors,” explains Mike Newman, KRK‘s director of product management. “Also project studio owners with pets or small children will benefit from using these attractive grills. Our engineers designed these grills to be rugged enough to protect the woofers and tweeters, while taking measures to maintain optimum sonic accuracy.”
The new VXT Protection Grills will be in stores in November and have the following list prices (grills are sold in pairs): VXT6: $64.99, VXT4: $39.99.

About KRK Systems
A member of the Stanton Group of companies, KRK Systems is a leader in studio monitors for the professional audio market. KRK Systems was founded in 1986, by Keith Klawitter. He had been an engineer for years working on such films as “Brainstorm” and “The Doors”. Frustrated by the fact he couldn’t find a monitor that gave him clarity and accuracy, he began building his own monitors. Other engineers and producers began to take notice of Keith’s high-end studio monitors, a groundswell began and a company was born. They also began commissioning him to build custom main systems as well. We attribute this remarkable beginning to Keith’s affinity for electronics, his passion for music, and his originality and insight.
KRK products are distributed throughout the world via a network of distributors and dealers in more than 75 countries. For additional information on all KRK Systems products, please visit us online at www.krksys.com.
